The Northern Media Group purchased Mid FM in March 2006. It was well established in the Cookstown, Dungannon and Armagh areas.
The station was later re-branded as Six FM, mid-Ulster's local radio station. The ethos of the station complements its sister stations providing a professional, quality sound and a distinct local identity.
The music, special features, news and sport are all tailored to the population of mid-Ulster. The station plays a broad mix of music with hits from all decades from the 60's to current hits, there is also a liberal sprinkling of American Country and local artists.
It broadcasts to a mix of urban and rural areas with large towns and cities including Dungannon, Magherafelt, Cookstown, Maghera and areas of influence in Omagh and Armagh City.
The programming is aimed at all age groups within this area.
Quality local, regional and national news are very important to the station, as is sports coverage. News and match reports from local GAA teams feature heavily, as does the progress of Dungannon Swifts and Dungannon rugby club.
Under the Northern Media Group, Six FM has been able to build on its standing and reputation in the mid-Ulster area.
Six FM is a RAJAR station.
